Majority of School Overrides Passed in Districts around Arizona

On Tuesday, March 9, several Arizona school districts held budget override elections in an effort to protect school programs and services, reduce class size, and/or preserve teaching positions.  Of the 24 school district overrides, 15 passed.    The number of override campaigns, in addition to the victories for many districts where overrides had previously failed, shows communities are mobilizing to protect their public school programs, teachers, and class sizes.  .

As a Tucson resident, I am so embarrassed that the Flowing Wells override was defeated. One person told me that he wasn’t voting for it so he could “show the administrators at TUSD a lesson”. I couldn’t believe it. How can people be so stupid? How could people vote against their own future?
