AZ Daily Star asks So. AZ lawmakers 4 questions on Budget & Education; Stevens, Melvin, Williams, Gowan & Antenori don’t respond

The Arizona Daily Star submitted four specific questions about the state budget crisis to Southern Arizona lawmakers.  They are providing an opportunity to respond directly to constituents without editing (except spelling, grammar & punctuation).

.

Question 1 covers education: Lawmakers have discretion over only 37 per cent of K-12 education.  School districts and universities have already taken millions in budget cuts, which affects everything from the economy to demands on government programs.  Should lawmakers continue to cut money to education?  What, specifically, would you do?

  1. Grandma with a vote says:

WOW – Melvin, Williams, Antenori and Gowan failed to respond? I. am. shocked. Shocked! They have been working soooo hard on behalf of my grandchildren in the Catalina Foothills District that I would think they would want to crow about it. Paton, I noticed, did a gallant job NOT answering any of the questions put to him.

Sorry – sarcasm off. I haven’t paid much attention to politics before, but this year I’ll be first in line at the polls. I’ve lived in Arizona for many years, and I’ve never seen any group of people work so hard against the schools in my neighborhood. It is a disgrace. If my cat decides to run against any of the jokers above, she’ll definitely have my vote – she isn’t the smartest cat in the neighborhood, but it would be a step up.
